Start with a project in which each new step can be inspected. A small suncatcher with gently curved pieces teaches cutting, grinding, foiling and soldering without the load of a large panel. Try basic geometric ornaments after you can produce repeatable scores and reasonably even solder seams.
Reserve complex lamp structures, large overhead installations and heavy framed glass until you understand appropriate reinforcement and safe load-bearing attachments. Our beginner project tutorial is the best first destination.
